This CLE will address core components of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and, specifically, protections for species’ habitat. ESA protections have changed through regulatory action over the past several years, and the presentation will cover how these changes apply to habitat protections. It will then look at how these protections were applied in a recent lawsuit by the Friends of Minnesota Scientific and Natural Areas, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Center for Biological Diversity seeking to protect the habitat of Minnesota’s state bee—the rusty patched bumble bee.
