From Startup to Succession Planning - A Checklist Approach to Avoiding Common Legal Pitfalls in Private Companies

Event Description

Online registration is now closed.
If you would still like to join, email kerbach@mnbars.org by 11am on May 12.

Every business attorney has been asked by a client to “make sure I’m protected.” What this entails varies by client, industry, and transaction, but there are many avoidable risks and liabilities in all businesses, whether new or established. This presentation will focus on ways in-house counsel and outside business attorneys can add value to their clients’ businesses and advise them of common pitfalls. The corporate veil is only the start when it comes to effective risk reduction measures. Our presenters will discuss the importance of reviewing corporate filings and registration, tax treatment, personnel policies and procedures, company culture, key contract provisions, real estate, intellectual property, insurance, succession planning and exit strategies, and assembling a team of business advisors.
