Tapping Restricted and Endowment Funds in a Down Economy

As the effects of COVID-19 on the economy and our societal needs continue present challenges to nearly every nonprofit organization, some organizations are considering how their endowment and other restricted funds may be deployed to address escalating financial stresses.  This session will discuss endowment spending policies and how to identify, interpret, and administer legally binding endowments and other restricted funds as well as potential options for modifying the restrictions.

Wade Hauser | Associate, Lathrop GPM LLP

Wade Hauser is an associate at Lathrop GPM LLP and a member of the firm’s Health & Nonprofit Organizations Practice Group. He advises clients regarding nonprofit governance, combinations and other transactions, charitable giving, campaign finance, and other matters. He received his B.A. from St. Olaf College, and his J.D., with highest distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2014.
