HCBF Awards Over $270,000 to Local Community Organizations

MINNEAPOLIS— The Hennepin County Bar Foundation closed its 2018-19 bar year by announcing this year’s grant recipients and welcoming the 2019-20 leadership. Under the direction of President Vince Louwagie (Anthony Ostlund Baer & Louwagie), the foundation awarded $270,400 in grants and support to local community organizations whose work furthers the foundation’s mission: Promoting access to justice for the people of Hennepin County. (The list of grantees is below.)
Following the tenure of Louwagie, the Hon. Sarah West (Hennepin County District Court) will serve as president of the HCBF for the 2019-20 bar year, which begins on July 1.
Serving with West as officers for the coming year are Vice-President Alecia Anderson (Wells Fargo); Secretary Matt Ralph (Dorsey & Whitney); and Treasurer Cory Olson (Anthony Ostlund Baer & Louwagie). Louwagie remains an officer as the immediate past president.
The Hennepin Country Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Hennepin County Bar Association. Funds for annual grants come from the local legal community, including individual member attorneys, law firms, and fundraising events including the Bar Benefit, held in March, and the “Tee it Up for Justice” Golf Classic, held in September.
