Furthering diversity and inclusion in the local legal community is integral to the work of the HCBA.
It is core to our mission, our values, and the unique issues of our region.
Minneapolis and the suburbs of Hennepin County are home to the most diverse populations -- and the largest percentage of lawyers of color and LGBT lawyers -- in the state of Minnesota. Unfortunately, the diversity of our legal community, especially at the partner level and above, does not reflect the current and growing diversity of our local community, or the diversity of clients served nationally and internationally by our local lawyers.
From our very active Diversity and Inclusion Committee to our unique CLE programming, our 1L minority clerkship program to our mentoring partnerships with local nonprofits and schools, the HCBA has a wide range of efforts underway.
If you are interested in making a real difference in the diversity and inclusion of our local legal community and the legal profession as a whole, we welcome your involvement and would be excited to talk with you about which opportunities for engagement best connect to your interests.
