Register your 2023 hours here!

If you are an MSBA member and provided 50 hours or more of pro bono service in 2023, you can certify to be a North Star Lawyer. More than just personal recognition, certifying as a North Star Lawyer shows your peers that pro bono is important, valuable, and possible in today's busy world. Additionally, returning for the second year is our Minnesota State Bar Foundation (MSBF) grant award! If you enter where you provided your pro bono service, those MSBF grantee organizations will be entered in a drawing for a $5000 North Star grant from the MSBF. Congrats to Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services for winning last year!

The Minnesota State Bar Association is proud to recognize members who provide 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services per year as North Star Lawyers.

Lawyers who serve low-income Minnesotans without charge should be celebrated. They help people who otherwise could not afford counsel achieve justice. For hours volunteered in calendar year 2022, the MSBA gave special recognition to 685 members who provide 50 hours or more of legal services as defined in Rule 6.1(a), (b)(1) and (b)(2) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. We know many more of you could be recognized. Members who report their 2023 voluntary service will be recognized as North Star Lawyers and included on the annual roster insert published in the May/June Bench & Bar magazine, as well as in other recognition opportunities.
