Section Accomplishments
LegalCORPS Funding: The Business Law Section supports LegalCORPS on a semi-annual basis. LegalCORPS provides free legal assistance in non-litigation matters to low-income owners of small businesses. This year, the Business Law Section Council supported LegalCORPS with a $7,500 grant.
Summer Clerk Position: For the second year in a row, the Section Council hired a summer clerk position in an effort to increase awareness of practicing business law amongst law students as well as to put the Section's dues revenue to work by providing opportunities. The summer clerk will assist part-time at LegalCORPS providing them with additional learning opportunities while helping the Section’s preferred legal services organization. A rising 2L Mitchell Hamline School of Law student was chosen and we anticipate projects will include gathering, researching and writing/editing materials for the Section webpage, researching and analyzing legislative proposals germane to the section or its committees, researching and assembling case law summaries for use by Section membership and other projects that would support and benefit Section membership and goals.
