This will be a practical CLE with
perspectives from experienced defense attorneys and prosecutors about the best
way to handle negotiating the best outcome for your client. There are many
different possible methods. Should you come on tough and insisting on a best
case scenerio outcome or just ask the prosecutor for an offer? Should you be
begging and pleading with all the hardships your client is experiencing? Should
you get one or more evaluations of your client for chemical dependency,
depression, ADHD, etc.? Should you share your ideas for your legal defenses to
try to convince the prosecutor that they don't have a good case? Obviously, the
best tactics will depend on the type of case you have, the risks of losing, the
viability of your defenses and many other factors unique to your case, your
client's wishes and your own individual style. Hear from experienced defense
attorneys on the tactics that have worked for them and what tactics could
backfire.
