MSBA Committees

The MSBA is seeking members interested in serving on a new Unauthorized Practice of Law and Artificial Intelligence Working Group. The Working Group will study and make recommendations regarding the potential ramifications of artificial intelligence technology and the unauthorized practice of law in order to ensure protection of the public while also fulfilling the profession’s goal of access to justice for everyone. Legislative and rule change recommendations are just two possibilities the Working Group may choose to explore. The Working Group will begin its task in March of 2023, with recommendations due March 15, 2024. Recommendations will be considered by the MSBA Assembly, its policy-making body, in April of 2024. We anticipate the working group will meet monthly, with the possibility of a few subcommittee meetings in addition. If interested, please complete this Qualifications and Interest statement by February 28. Appointments will be made by the MSBA President.

MSBA committees help develop, implement, and oversee MSBA goals and programming. Committees are comprised of volunteer MSBA members, appointed by the MSBA president. Members share their expertise and insights to advance the legal profession and the community.

Interested in serving on a Committee? Submit the Qualifications & Interest form.

In accordance with MSBA Bylaws, committees wishing to file an Amicus Brief or take any other action in the name of a committee must submit the appropriate form before taking any action.
