Saint Paul, MN (October 1, 2019) – The Ramsey County Bar Association (RCBA) is honoring Stinson LLP attorneys Eric Galatz and Keith Moheban with its 2019 Pro Bono Award. This annual award recognizes an attorney or team of attorneys for significant dedication to providing legal services to disadvantaged individuals and/or nonprofit organizations.

The 2019 RCBA Pro Bono Award presentation will take place at the Ramsey County Bar Foundation’s annual Bench & Bar Benefit, taking place on Saturday, November 2, at the St. Paul Hotel. Tickets for this fundraising event are available at www.RCBFbenefit.org.

Galatz and Moheban have each provided substantial pro bono service throughout their careers, starting in the early 1990s at Leonard Street and Deinard and continuing to this date at successor-by-merger Stinson LLP. The 2019 award recognizes Galatz and Moheban together for their work for St. Paul-based Listening House. Listening House is a daytime drop-in center that provides homeless and disadvantaged individuals with a safe place to shelter from the rain or cold, have a hot drink and something to eat, clean up, receive warm clothes, and connect with assistance, counsel, and social services.

Galatz is currently pro bono counsel to Settled Incorporated, a nonprofit promoting settlements of Tiny Houses on Wheels as a housing option for homeless individuals, and Northside Residents Redevelopment Council, a nonprofit neighborhood association serving residents of the Willard Hay and Near North neighborhoods of Minneapolis. In addition to his direct service, Galatz has served on the firm’s pro bono committee and the boards of the Minnesota Justice Foundation and Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, is a past-chair of the board of the Jungle Theater, and is a current member of Volunteer Lawyers Network Benefactors Board.

Moheban regularly represents pro bono clients on family law and housing matters, and for many years has provided pro bono legal assistance to environmental groups such as The Nature Conservancy. He is a past chair of the firm’s pro bono committee and legal clinic committee. In 2011 he was awarded the Hennepin County Bar Association Pro Bono Publico award. He presently is board chair of The Fund for the Legal Aid Society, which raises more than $1.3 million each year to support Legal Aid. He also serves on the board of VEAP, Inc., a food shelf serving the south metro area.

Galatz and Moheban credit their partners past and present for establishing and supporting a strong tradition of pro bono service by attorneys, paralegals, and staff in all of their offices. Stinson Managing Partner Mark Hinderks acknowledged the firm’s commitment as follows: “Pro bono is an integral part of the way we serve and take our place in the communities in which we practice. It is embedded in our DNA. We are proud of the many contributions of our attorneys, paralegals and staff firm-wide, exemplified here by Eric and Keith’s work on behalf of the Listening House.”
