The New Lawyers Leadership Conference (NLLC) is the premiere event for the up-and-coming legal professionals and practitioners looking to advance their career with purpose and vision. The conference brings together experienced and fresh perspectives on the practice of law that combine to inspire and empower law students and legal professionals in their first several years of practice. Join us for dynamic and engaging presentations, diverse and thought-provoking speakers, and practical and insightful tips for a well-rounded career. Sybil is a business and IP litigator, with first-chair trial and arbitration experience. She has also represented clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including the first patent owner to score a complete victory in a CBM proceeding. She offers her thoughts about the practice of law in a monthly column for Minnesota Lawyer entitled Sybil Procedure, and she hosts a recurring website series for Minnesota CLE.

Nysha Cornelius is an immigration attorney with Paschal-Nwokocha & Chukwu. She will present on the various pitfalls for attorneys who do not specialize in immigration law but represent immigrant clients. The goal of the presentation is to educate all practitioners about how to protect their client's status.

Nysha’s strong cultural ties to her Mexican heritage is what lead her to work in the field of immigration. She handles employment and family based immigration cases and also represents clients in removal proceedings in front of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and the U.S Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. In addition to her employment at Paschal Nwokocha & Chukwu, Nysha volunteers at many places including the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota.

"Lawyers are entrusted with some of the most difficult and consequential issues facing their clients. When clients have difficult decisions to make, they rely on their attorneys to understand what the likely outcomes are. In the business world, important decisions are now almost always made by analyzing data. Analytics are used for important decisions on everything from sales and marketing to supply chain management and HR. For the most part, though, lawyers still tend to advise their clients based not on data, but on their own anecdotal experience. With clients continuing to adapt to a data-driven world, do lawyers face a professional obligation to use data analytics to inform their legal advice?

Jeffrey Asjes | Research Platform Product Manager | Fastcase
Jeffrey is responsible for planning and implementing all new features for Fastcase, and improving the user experience. Prior to joining the Fastcase team, Jeffrey worked on policy and outreach for the United Nations Information Center and the Partnership for a Secure America. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Jeffrey Asjes earned an A.B. from Princeton University and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Current panelists include: Michael Boulette, Nicole Kettiwick, Stuart Nostdahl, Jennifer Olson, and Laurie Young.
