Minneapolis— The Hennepin County Bar Foundation closed its 2017-18 bar year by announcing this year’s grant recipients and welcoming the 2018-19 leadership. Under the direction of President Kati Mohammad-Zadeh, J.D., Ph.D. (University of Minnesota), the foundation awarded $206,150 in grants to 15 local community organizations whose work furthers the foundation’s mission: Promoting equal access to justice for the people of Hennepin County. (The list of grantees is below.)
Following the tenure of Mohammad-Zadeh, Vince Louwagie (Anthony Ostlund Baer & Louwagie) will serve as president of the HCBF for the 2018-19 bar year. Serving with Mohammad-Zadeh as officers for the coming year are Vice-President Sarah West (Hennepin County Public Defenders Office); Secretary Alecia Anderson (Wells Fargo); and Treasurer Matt Ralph (Dorsey & Whitney). Mohammad-Zadeh remains an officer as the Immediate Past President.
The Hennepin Country Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Hennepin County Bar Association. Funds for annual grants come from the local legal community, including individual member attorneys, law firms, and fundraising events including the Bar Benefit, held in March, and the “Tee it Up for Justice” Golf Classic, held in September.
