Human Rights

What is the MSBA Human Rights Committee?

The HRC is made up of legal and non-legal professionals, at varying stages of their their careers who are interested in addressing the issues of Human Rights within our culture. You don't need to have a lot of experience in human rights issues to be a part of the Committee. You only need a desire and interest. This is one of MSBA's most active committees. Come be a part of it!

If you have any questions about the committee please feel free to direct all your comments to the Chair. If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, contact the staff liaison

The purpose of the Human Rights Committee is to develop appropriate goals and missions, and study and make recommendations in the area of human rights including, without limitation, the rights of children, the elderly, the mentally ill, those serving in penal institutions, and persons identified by race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, low-income status, disability, and age.

The goal of the committee is to work in collaboration with MSBA sections, local bar, and other human rights organizations to promote support for human rights locally, nationally, and globally.
