Children with Unseen Disabilities in the Legal System

This year’s Summit will explore how children with “invisible disabilities” such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and mental health disabilities, get evaluated or not and how their disability affects what happens to them in the legal system. Our speakers will be Dr. Susan Jenkins, Medical Director at Bluestem Center for Child and Family Development, Ruth Richardson, Director of Programs and National Strategic Initiatives for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS), and Joanna Woolman, Executive Director of the Institute for Children, Families and Communities at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. We will also discuss the different ethical issues that arise between the medical system and legal system. A moderated panel discussion will follow the presentations.

This CLE is approved for credit through April 15, 2021.
