Changes coming to MSBA Directories

by Joe Kaczrowski | Sep 09, 2015

The MSBA launched two new member directories in January of this year, MN Find a Lawyer and the MSBA Colleague Directory. Both have been well-received and proven to be valuable member benefits. And the Association continues to improve and enhance its member directories. Several new features will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks.

Among the new features of the Directories will be the ability to add a company logo to your profile along with your headshot. You also will have the ability to choose which of these two images appears next to your listing in search results, which is another improvement; the search results page will now include thumbnails of each profile (where available). There are many numbers out there from sources like LinkedIn and Avvo that show that profiles with photos are many times more likely to attract potential customers, and the MSBA Directories will now include more branding options for your profile.

The Directories will also include a Google Maps option, where the location of your practice will be shown. Another change is that search results pages will now show Certification badges where available. If someone searches for a criminal lawyer, Certified Criminal Law Specialists will have their certification badge appear next to their name. (You can learn more about the MSBA Certification program here.)

If you haven't updated your profile in awhile, now is a good time to make sure your information is up-to-date so you can take advantage of these new features. Need a new headshot for your profile? A couple other updates that may be of interest:

This summer the MSBA published over one hundred new family law forms in its document assembly program, mndocs. As you may already be aware, mndocs also recently moved to its new home in the cloud-based HotDocs Market. The MSBA will be publishing several new forms in a number of practice areas including family law, business, guardianship/conservatorship, and adoption; these forms should be available in early October. mndocs also recently added a number of new pricing options. If you're not sure about the product and want to give it a try, monthly pricing is available. Volume discounts are also available for those firms with several users. You can learn more about mndocs at or check out one of the on-demand demos here.

Registration will open soon for the MSBA's technology conference set for November 5 in Lakeville. The conference will feature a number of speakers on current technology topics followed by a social hour where attendees can talk with presenters and try out some of the products and services offered. The member price for the conference is $65, but an early bird rate of $50 will be available through the end of September (non-member pricing is $195 and $150 respectively).
