Religion and Politics at the Mediation Table - Managing Values-Based Disputes

Nothing arouses passionate discourse quite like talking about politics and/or religion. Sometimes known as "values-based" or "identity-based" disputes, these seemingly unresolvable and polarizing topics can be tough to encounter, especially when we ourselves hold an opinion that threatens our impartiality. By reviewing core ADR practices such as interest identification and reframing, participants will learn how to engage with these subject areas in a way that fosters mutual understanding and resolution between parties with differing points of view.
